🌿 Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica L.))

• botany & Origin
  The stinging nettle is widespread throughout the northern hemisphere and belongs to the nettle family (Urticaceae). It prefers to grow in nitrogen-rich soils, along forest edges, streams, and roadsides. Its characteristic features are its toothed, pointed leaves and fine stinging hairs, which release formic acid and histamine upon skin contact.

• Plant part used
  The complex will contain the Leaf extract processed. Traditionally, both leaves and roots are used, but the leaves are particularly rich in secondary plant compounds.

• Ingredients
  Nettle leaves contain, among other things... Flavonoids, phenolic acids, beta-sitosterol, minerals (v.a. Calcium, iron, silicon) as well as chlorophyll. This diversity makes the plant an interesting ingredient in dietary supplements.

• Traditional use
  Stinging nettle has been used in folk medicine for centuries. It has been used both internally (tea, extracts) and externally (poultices).

• botany & Origin
  The common grapevine belongs to the grape family (Vitaceae). It is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world, probably cultivated in the Mediterranean region for over 7,000 years. Besides the fruit (grape), the leaves are also used.

• Plant part used
  The complex will contain the Vine leaf extracted. In phytotherapy, the red leaves are preferred, as they have a particularly high content of secondary plant compounds.

• Ingredients
  Rich in Polyphenols, flavonoids (e.g., quercetin, rutin), anthocyanins and tannins. These secondary plant compounds are responsible for the characteristic red coloration of the leaves and are of great importance in botany.

• Traditional use
  Grapevine leaves were already used in ancient times, including by the Egyptians and Greeks.

🌰 Horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum L.)

• botany & Origin
  The horse chestnut belongs to the soapberry family (Sapindaceae). Originally from the mountainous regions of Greece and the Balkans, it was introduced to Central Europe in the 16th century and is now an integral part of many cityscapes.

• Plant part used
  The complex will be used for the Seed extract used. The large, brown seeds ("chestnuts") are rich in specific saponins.

• Ingredients
  The main ingredient is the Aescin, a mixture of various triterpene saponins. The seeds also contain flavonoids, tannins, and proanthocyanidins.

• Traditional use
  Horse chestnuts were used in folk medicine from early times. Seed extracts, in particular, are now well-established in phytotherapy.
