Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, belongs to the family of water-soluble B vitamins and possesses an exceptionally complex molecular structure with a centrally bound cobalt ion. In the human body, vitamin B12 is involved in fundamental metabolic processes – from the normal formation of red blood cells and cell division to the function of the nervous system, energy metabolism, and mental health.

What makes our product special is its source: The vitamin B12 does not come from added cyanocobalamin, but from a concentrated organic shiitake fruiting body extract (Lentinula edodesShiitake mushrooms are among the few non-animal foods in which vitamin B12 compounds have been detected.

For our capsules we use a 75:1 extract from the fruiting body of the shiitake mushroom From controlled organic farming. The raw material is specifically selected for a vitamin B12 content of 0.1% standardized. Thus, each capsule with 250 mg shiitake extract delivers exactly 250 µg Vitamin B12.

This amount corresponds to 10,000% of the legal reference value for daily intake. The high dosage is also interesting in light of the specific absorption of vitamin B12: In addition to the saturable, intrinsic factor-dependent absorption, a small proportion of higher orally administered amounts can also be absorbed independently of this.

Why shiitake mushrooms as a source of vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12 is naturally associated primarily with animal products. This makes the shiitake mushroom all the more remarkable (Lentinula edodes): Vitamin B12 compounds have been detected in its fruiting body, making it particularly interesting scientifically as a non-animal source.

The natural vitamin B12 content of a food alone would be too low to provide 250 µg in a single capsule. Therefore, we don't use a simple shiitake mushroom, but a highly concentrated one. 75:1 fruiting body extract, whose vitamin B12 content is specifically targeted 0.1% is standardized.

Specifically, this means: 250 mg of the extract provides 0.25 mg respectively. 250 µg Vitamin B12. The vitamin B12 content is therefore clearly defined and independent of the natural fluctuations of the original mushroom.

The story behind Qidosha

My husband became seriously ill in 2014. Conventional doctors were baffled by the cause, as none of the known risk factors applied. This experience led us to delve deeply into the millennia-old wisdom of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – not as a counterpoint to conventional medicine, but as a valuable complement. It became increasingly clear that the problem today is rarely a lack of information, but rather a lack of understanding of what actually happens in the body. Too many approaches, too many opinions – but often too little guidance and too little trust in the body's ability to regain its balance. We have deepened this knowledge over many years together with practitioners. This led to the creation of QIDOSHA: the fusion of traditional healing wisdom, modern science, and the understanding of how to specifically support the body in finding its regulation and balance again – instead of merely compensating for symptoms in the short term. With QIDOSHA, we therefore don't simply want to sell supplements, but rather spark curiosity about the fascinating connections between the body, balance, and millennia-old wisdom.
