Acid-base balance

In Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the terms "deacidification" and "detoxification" are closely related. Deacidification usually refers to measures intended to promote the removal of acids from the body. Detoxification aims to relieve the body by increasing the elimination of metabolic waste products.

Normally, the acid-base balance of the human body is stable. However, an unhealthy lifestyle and diet can disrupt this balance.*

Amino acids

Amino acids are the smallest building blocks of a protein. Proteins are "essential building blocks of life." But amino acids also fulfill independent functional roles.

A distinction is made between essential and non-essential amino acids:

  • Essential amino acids: must be obtained through food - a Undersupply cannot be compensated for.
  • Non-essential amino acids: can be formed in the organism using essential amino acids

Essential

  • Isoleucine (VK)
  • Leucine (VK)
  • Lysine
  • Methionine (SH)
  • Phenylalanine (AAS)
  • Threonine
  • Tryptophan (AAS)
  • Valin (VK)

Semi-essential

  • Arginine
  • Histidine (AAS)
  • Cystine/Cysteine (SH)
  • Tyrosine

Non-essential

  • Alanine
  • Aspartic acid/
    Asparagin
  • Glutamine
  • Asparagin
  • Glutamic acid
  • Glutamine
  • Glycine (Glycocolla)
  • Serine
  • Proline
  • Ornithine
  • Taurine
  • Hydroxyproline
  • Citrulline
  • 3-Methylhistidine
  • L-Theanine
  • Glutamine
  • Glycine (Glycocolla)
  • Serine
  • Proline
  • Ornithine
  • Taurine
  • Hydroxyproline
  • Citrulline
  • 3-Methylhistidine
  • L-Theanine
  • u.v.m.

Amino acids have three central functions in our body:

  • Structural tasks (anabolic function), d.h. the structure of proteins (“proteinogenicity”)
  • Energy production (catabolic function)
  • Provision of sulfur

Proteins can be classified into the following 7 main functional groups:

Structural proteins

Support structure of the organism

Collagen, hair, nails,
Matrix, elastin, keratin, myosin

Contractile proteins

Components of the musculature

Myosin, actin

Enzymes

Catalysis of many biochemical reactions,
Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory function

amylase, lipase, pepsin, trypsin,
Catalases, peroxidases, proteases

Transport and
Carrier proteins

Transport of important molecules

Hemoglobin, plasma albumin, calcium-binding
Protein, Metallothioneine

Regulatory proteins

Control and coordination of chemical
Reactions

Hormones (z.B. Insulin, oxytocin, insulin, glucagon
corticotropin, vasopressin, angiotensin)

Protective proteins

Storage of substances
for future needs

Blood coagulation (thrombin, fibrin, fibrinogen)
Immune system (immunoglobulins, interleukins)
Storage proteins (ferritin = iron storage)

Control proteins

Regulation of various processes
in the organism

Correctly reading the DNA

The intake of (digestible) proteins occurs through food.By means of eEnzymatic hydrolysis releases the amino acids from the natural food proteins, which are a mixture of amino acids.

The released amino acids subsequently represent the anabolic (building, conversion in the organism into the body's own protein) and catabolic metabolism (energy, nitrogen) is available.

RELAXATION? CONCENTRATION? VITALIZATION? OUR PURE ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils are volatile, aromatic compounds and the pure essence of plant extracts. The plants undergo a special distillation process in which the essential oil is separated from the plant material.

Essential oils, as part of herbs and spices, are something we encounter daily in everyday life: whether it's the cinnamon on the morning porridge, a cup of peppermint tea in the afternoon, or the basil on the spaghetti in the evening – we are always consuming volatile essential oil compounds.

But in addition to the emotional component, which anyone who has ever come into contact with high-quality essential oil can immediately understand, there are also more and more scientific studies that address the health benefits of essential oils on a biochemical level.

The nose, with its approximately 350 olfactory receptors, naturally plays a crucial role in the perception of scents. Biochemically, the messenger molecule cAMP plays a key role, converting the odor information triggered by the olfactory receptors in the olfactory sensory cells into an electrical impulse that is transmitted to the brain via the central nervous system. But odorant receptors are not only found in the nose, but in all body cells, for example in fatty tissue, but also in organs such as the lungs, heart, and kidneys, where they are not usually expected.

Let yourself be inspired by our selection of essential oils and their effects on soul, mind and body!

Ayurveda

AYURVEDA. "THE KNOWLEDGE OF LIFE"

Many people associate Ayurveda with wellness treatments like the well-known Shirodhara (oil pouring on the forehead), which many hotels use to promote their spa areas. In fact, Ayurveda is arguably the oldest traditional medicine in the world, having been passed down continuously for over 2,000 years and thus possessing an extremely comprehensive body of experiential knowledge. Neither Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which was politically revived in the 20th century, nor European medicine – with the exception of the writings of Hildegard von Bingen – can look back on such a tradition.

Ayurveda means "science of life" (ayus = "life" and veda = "knowledge") and has its roots in the sacred Indian scriptures, the Vedas, which, like Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), connect physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects. In Ayurveda, nutrition plays a particularly important role—both in prevention and in the treatment of illnesses. Spices and herbs are used specifically as remedies. In Ayurveda, spices are comparable to herbal teas in Western naturopathy. We have compiled the most important spices and herbs for you in this category.

His recently published book "Healing cooking with Ayurveda" he wrote together with Dr. Dietrich Grönemeyer.

In their book, the two explain how food affects the body and how Ayurveda can help us – often even where conventional medicine ends..

Activating self-healing powers presents In the millennia-old healing art of Ayurveda, this represents the most important aspect. Traditionally, the effects of food play a significant role.

"Ayurveda is the longest field study in history," says Volker Mehl. It is a traditional medical system that has been based on billions of observations and healing experiences for approximately 5,000 to 6,000 years. The theories and the therapies derived from them have been constantly tested and proven in practice over the millennia. They have proven their validity to this day.

The book takes the reader on a journey... an introduction to the topic of Ayurveda with the main subjects: "Doshas", "Metabolism" and "Medicinal Herbs".

Blood sugar

Today, unlike in the past when sugar was scarce, we find it almost everywhere: not only in sweets, baked goods, and soft drinks, but also as a flavor enhancer in products like mustard, sausages, and ketchup. Whole grains have increasingly given way to white flour. Sugar and white flour are quickly digested, rapidly creating cravings for even more readily available carbohydrates. According to Ayurvedic principles, sugar primarily disrupts Kapha and fat metabolism (Medha). This is accompanied by an excess of toxins (Ama). Kapha is particularly aggravated by the sweet taste (as explained above: the fast-acting carbohydrates). To improve blood sugar levels, reducing Kapha dosha and Ama is recommended. Exercise, a wholesome, low-sugar diet, spices that stimulate Agni (digestive fire), herbs…

Of course, there are different forms of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which sugar from food no longer enters the body's cells, but remains in the blood and damages the internal organs in the long term. Diabetes used to be called "adult-onset diabetes" because insulin production usually declines with age. However, younger people are also frequently affected. This is often attributed to the fact that many people have predominantly sedentary jobs and also eat unhealthy diets.

People with diabetes should consult an Ayurvedic doctor. Diabetics should u.g. Dietary supplements should only be taken under professional supervision or with regular blood sugar monitoring.*

Chronic inflammation & Autoimmune diseases

Generally speaking, inflammation is a reaction of the body's own immune system to a stimulus. Signs of this can include, for example, skin redness, pain, warmth, or swelling. If the inflammation becomes very severe, it can affect the entire body. Many different immune cells can be involved in inflammation. They release tissue hormones that dilate small blood vessels in the tissue, allowing more blood to reach the inflamed area. This transports more immune cells to the site, and so on. The body's normal functions for fighting inflammation can be supported. Chronic inflammation is also a trigger factor for malignancies. "Currently, about one in five cancers is associated with it," said Prof. Dr. Curtis C. Harris of the US National Cancer Institute (NCI) at an international symposium in Heidelberg.source).*

Digestion

From the mouth to the esophagus, from the stomach to the small intestine, from the large intestine to the anus… our food undergoes a complex process. Organs that, while not part of the digestive tract, are nevertheless crucial for digestion, include the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. These organs, affected directly or indirectly, can be supported in their function. Digestion is a central theme in Ayurveda. It is believed that digestive problems are the root cause of various illnesses.

In Chinese diagnostics, the spleen and stomach form "our center" and are synonymous with digestion. In the kidneys, the vital essence Jing is constantly renewed. Its function is to extract nutrients from food for life. This underscores the high importance of digestion, which should be supported.

Eyes

70 to 80% of all our perceptions are conveyed through our eyes. In Ayurveda, the doshas are divided into five subdoshas, each responsible for different bodily functions. Normally, each subdosha is responsible for several functions – however, within the Pitta dosha, there is a subdosha solely responsible for the eyes. Furthermore, other subdoshas also influence eye function. Therefore, the eyes are of great importance in Ayurveda.

Our eyes radiate the subtle essence "Ojas" and convey information about the current state of the three Gunas: Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. How can we support our eyes? Strengthening Agni (digestive fire) and the associated promotion of Ama (toxin elimination) facilitates the absorption and supply of nutrients and vital substances to the body. Deacidification and an alkaline-rich diet protect the eyes from harmful substances. Digital detox, or consciously reducing visual stimuli, prevents eye strain.

OPC 40 is recommended by various sources for chronic eye strain caused by prolonged computer work. Among Ayurvedic herbs and foods, the Amla berry is considered Pitta-regulating. According to Ayurvedic principles, Triphala balances all three Doshas. Dissolved in water, it is used by doctors to treat eye inflammations. Please only use it under the supervision of a doctor! From an Ayurvedic perspective, ghee is a good remedy for eye care. For dry eyes, gently warmed and applied to the eye (one drop) is recommended.

Joints & Bones

Strong bones allow us to stand upright. They protect internal organs and are the lever to steer our forces. The body's calcium store is in our bones, because it needs calcium regularly for the normal function of the muscles and for the energy metabolism. If necessary, the body also uses the calcium depot in the bones to regulate the acid-base balance. If you want to keep your bones, jaw and teeth healthy, you should make sure that you are getting enough calcium, vitamin C, zinc and vitamin D. Pressure and stress on bones can cause cracks and defects that the body can repair itself if it is supplied with sufficient minerals. Calcium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. You can provide your body with calcium through foods such as broccoli, spinach leaves, muesli, mineral water and dairy products. The combination of calcium and vitamins D and K is essential for healthy bones because vitamin D increases the absorption rate of calcium and vitamin K ensures that the calcium enters the bones and is not deposited in the blood vessels. For strong and strong bones and a healthy bone metabolism, we also recommend our medicinal mushrooms and combination products.

Our combination product CLEAN contains calcium, which is needed for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth.

Vitamin C, D and zinc can be found in our DEFENSE preparation: Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones and teeth. Vitamin D and zinc contribute to the maintenance of normal bones.

Liposomal eye sprays highly bioavailable

The central challenge with many dietary supplements is bioavailability: only a fraction of the ingested amount is actually absorbed by the body. This is precisely where the patent-pending QIDOSHA Bio+ process comes in, enabling up to 15 times greater bioavailability.

This is achieved, firstly, through a carrier system for the active ingredient (e.g., a plant extract such as astaxanthin) with a double membrane made of phospholipids (in the case of lipophilic active ingredients, there is also a fat-soluble core within the double membrane), which is very similar to the human cell structure, and secondly, through a very small particle size of the active ingredient.

The combination of both effects, when taken sublingually, leads to significantly improved bioavailability.

There are Vata imbalances, which may occur more frequently at the beginning of menstruation (bloating, pain in the lower abdomen or lower back, constipation, insomnia, or cramps); Pitta imbalances such as irritation, inflammation, hot flashes, increased breast sensitivity; and Kapha imbalances, which are accompanied by fluid retention in the breasts, a feeling of heaviness, bloating, or fatigue. Ayurveda has specific herbal recommendations for each imbalance (z.B. For Vata imbalance, Ashwagandha with warm water is recommended; for Pitta imbalance, Shatavari with warm water, etc. These should be discussed with an Ayurvedic doctor. How exciting! You're thinking about your desire to have children – perhaps even for the first time…

The desire to have children, pregnancy, the time with a baby… these are such intense phases in a woman's, a couple's life – phases full of love! ♥

According to ancient Ayurvedic texts, parents wishing to have children used to undergo a multi-week "treatment"—both men and women—to prepare them. During this treatment (Panchakarma), a large number of toxins are eliminated from the body. Consequently, purer genetic material is passed on afterward.

Even if you don't want to undergo Panchkarma treatment, you can of course do something to prepare your body: The best possible state of health will help you to conceive a healthy child.

Shatavari is the women's herb in Ayurveda. Women often take it to prepare for pregnancy, stirred into ghee or milk, or in capsule form (you can also open the capsules to stir the contents into milk).

TCM/vital mushrooms

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Knowledge from the Middle Kingdom.

A central role in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is played by the vital energy "Qi," which is kept in flow by the two life forces of Yin and Yang. According to TCM, when Yin and Yang are in balance, we feel healthy. If the energy flow is disrupted, for example by environmental factors such as cold, heat, drafts, poor diet, emotional stress, or overexertion, health problems can arise, according to TCM. Among medicinal plants (according to TCM), medicinal mushrooms hold particular significance, having been used in TCM for thousands of years. The oldest official list of medicinal substances, dating from the 29th century BC, includes several mushroom species that were already used for therapeutic purposes at that time.

Here, too, there is a strong parallel to Ayurveda – both systems understand food as medicine. However, differences become apparent in the details: while in Ayurveda, a diet tailored to one's constitution is crucial for balancing the doshas, in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) everything revolves around energy flows. TCM assumes that food can have an energetic effect: some foods have a cooling effect (yogurt, for example), some a heating effect (chili, for example); some foods reduce, some increase Qi.

Vitamins and minerals

Vitamins and minerals. Nature's elixir of life.

Traditional herbal medicine, based on centuries of experience, is also known as "monastic medicine" because it was formerly v.a. The monasteries were the ones that preserved and expanded knowledge of herbal medicine. Perhaps the most famous representative of monastic medicine is Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), who is generally considered to have founded European naturopathy. Besides plant products, minerals, trace elements, and essential fatty acids, other ingredients included... v.a. Vitamins are also among the so-called "micronutrients" that are essential for the body.

The term "vitamins" encompasses a wide variety of organic compounds essential for metabolism. Despite their diversity, vitamins share the characteristic of not serving as energy sources, but rather fulfilling very specific functions, such as acting as antioxidants to protect against free radicals. A vitamin deficiency can lead to illness even with an adequate intake of energy-providing fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. With the exception of vitamin D, which the body can produce itself with the help of sunlight, all other vitamins must be obtained through food. Vitamins can be either fat-soluble or water-soluble, but only fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E, and K) can be stored in the body (with the exception of the water-soluble vitamin B12).
