In flow with the energies – ReiKi

Flowing with the energies – Reiki

What do Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda – the knowledge of long life, Yoga as a component of Ayurveda, Reiki – the teaching of Universal Life Energy from Japan, and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage have in common?

Panta Rhei – Everything flows

Even though all these healing techniques originate from diverse cultures around the world, their essence remains the same. The goal is to get one's personal life energy – Prana, Ki, or Chi, as we call it – flowing again and to bring it back into harmony with the rhythms of nature.

As within, so without; as above, so below; everything is interconnected, interwoven, and in constant vibration (see also the Hermetic Laws). I find it very impressive how life has produced such diverse paths and approaches, ensuring that there is a suitable route to the goal for everyone.

My path to Reiki

DSC08451

My journey into energy work began with Reiki. This form of energy work has been with me for over 25 years now. I first came into contact with it during my training as a naturopathic practitioner. My mind, which at that time was still very much focused on reason, first had to be convinced that there is much more out there than what I can touch with my hands.

Energy work must be experienced. The body is best suited for this. And that's where the hands come into play again. The hands are a perfect tool for directing energy to where it is needed. Gentle touch with the hands, combined with focused attention and being fully present in the moment with the person lying before me, opens a space for relaxation, wholeness, reconciliation, and finding harmony within oneself.

The energy pathways, called meridians or nadis, and the energy centers/chakras can be harmoniously balanced in this way. And since body, mind, and soul form a holistic system, stored emotions, thought patterns, and concepts are also accessed.

The beauty of working with Reiki is that it doesn't tire you out or drain your energy. Before the energy work, we consciously recognize that we are part of a greater intelligence. We essentially tap into universal consciousness and access this energy. In this way, we become energy channels and transmitters.

Reiki as meditation

Giving yourself 15 or 20 minutes of Reiki, balancing your chakras, or simply placing one hand on your heart and the other on your solar plexus can become pure meditation. You keep your attention on your hands, sensing what you perceive and what signals your body sends you. Your mind becomes calmer and calmer, your breath deeper and more even. The outside world recedes, and you connect with your inner self. Over time, this is how that inner peace arises that we so often long for in everyday life.

Is Reiki a special gift?

I'm often asked in Reiki training courses whether one needs a gift or a specific talent for Reiki to work. A clear no! We are all made of energy, vibration, and frequency, and are embedded in a cosmos that is also energy. This is confirmed by modern physics. Unfortunately, the human perceptual system has so many built-in filters that most people can only perceive solid matter and not the energy from which it is composed.

This often leads the logical mind to the fallacy: since I cannot see, taste, smell, hear, or grasp it, it cannot exist. Therefore, humans often need an experience. z.B...in the form of a treatment, in order to be able to feel this energy. Also, there has recently been an increasing number of highly sensitive people whose perceptual system no longer filters out higher vibrational energies in everyday life.

We are slowly but steadily evolving into an energetic society – not only in terms of technology, but also in the field of energy medicine. Scientific studies are investigating the effects of meditation on the brain and brain frequencies. Universities are researching the positive influence of mindfulness exercises and visualization techniques on cancer therapy. The aim here is to raise brain frequencies to a vibration that sends healing impulses to the body.

ReiKi promotes self-efficacy (salutogenesis)

Reiki

What still excites me about Reiki as much as it did at the beginning is the principle of self-efficacy. I have my health in my hands, quite literally. I always have my hands with me, no matter where I am. This means I can give energy to myself or others who need help, anytime and anywhere. In this way, I regain a degree of independence. The confirmation that I can contribute to my own healing, that I can take responsibility for myself by regularly practicing Reiki, are important building blocks on the path to recovery.

Of course, ReiKi does not necessarily replace a visit to a therapist, doctor or alternative practitioner and, like any other form of relaxation or therapy, cannot make any promise of healing.
