MENOPAUSE

The perimenopause, also called the climacteric, unlike menopause, does not represent a point in time, but a period of time – namely, the time before and after the last menstrual period. It is the transitional period from the fertile phase of life to the phase in which pregnancy is no longer possible naturally. This is because the ovaries produce less and less of the two female sex hormones, estrogen and progesterone, so that ovulation occurs less and less frequently and menstrual bleeding becomes irregular until it eventually stops altogether.

The final menstrual period marks menopause. The period before is called perimenopause, and the time after the final menstrual period is called postmenopause.

The onset of menopause varies from woman to woman – it typically begins in the mid-40s. In Germany, the average age for menopause is 51. It takes several more years for the hormonal changes to be complete and for a new balance (homeostasis) to be reached. In total, the menopausal transition lasts approximately 10 years.

The story behind Qidosha

My husband became seriously ill in 2014. Conventional doctors were baffled by the cause, as none of the known risk factors applied. This experience led us to delve deeply into the millennia-old wisdom of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – not as a counterpoint to conventional medicine, but as a valuable complement. It became increasingly clear that the problem today is rarely a lack of information, but rather a lack of understanding of what actually happens in the body. Too many approaches, too many opinions – but often too little guidance and too little trust in the body's ability to regain its balance. We have deepened this knowledge over many years together with practitioners. This led to the creation of QIDOSHA: the fusion of traditional healing wisdom, modern science, and the understanding of how to specifically support the body in finding its regulation and balance again – instead of merely compensating for symptoms in the short term. With QIDOSHA, we therefore don't simply want to sell supplements, but rather spark curiosity about the fascinating connections between the body, balance, and millennia-old wisdom.
