Make your home a magical place of power – with Shatavari.
Shatavari is one of the best-known plants in Ayurvedic herbal medicine. In Latin, the plant is called Asparagus racemosus. If you want to have children, have menstrual problems or are going through the menopause, it is worth trying this unique root! But let's take things one at a time. Shatavari not only sounds beautiful (perhaps like a pretty woman's name), but also means "who has 100 men". This is a reference to the rejuvenating effect of female reproductive organs.
In Ayurveda, the fine roots and sometimes the leaves of this wild asparagus are used as a medicinal and tonic agent. Shatavari is primarily used in women and men to strengthen sexuality. In women, it is used to support fertility (the positive effects on reproductive tissue are well known) and during pregnancy, to increase libido and for menopausal symptoms or to relieve premenstrual syndrome (PMS). In men, Shatavari is used for indications such as impotence, sexual weakness or inflammation in the genital area.
AYURVEDA: Shatavari for your bioenergy balance
Shatavari can be beneficial for people with increased Vata or Pitta. It strengthens the Kapha dosha and helps reduce Vata and Pitta.
The unstable Vata dosha can benefit from the anti-anxiety and nerve-calming effect. It can also be used for sleep problems. Shatavari is good for the body and mind and brings healing energy and balance.
Not only the mind, but also the intestines can be calmed, as Shatavari is used to protect the mucous membrane. Correct intake of Shatavari promises to help with heartburn.

Shatavari Moon Milk - the Ayurvedic goodnight milk
As the name suggests, Moon Milk is made with milk. Cow's milk (only milk of the best, most natural quality) is said to have a strengthening and vitalizing effect in Ayurveda. It calms our organism, stimulates our appetite and balances the doshas Vata and Pitta. In order for the milk to have its effect, it must be warm. Ideally, the milk should be boiled several times with spices.
In Moon Milk, we use Shatavari in addition to warming spices, as we want to use its balancing effect. Alternatively, we can also use Reishi or Tulsi.
Take:
- 250ml of the best cow's or plant milk
- 1 teaspoon Shatavari powder
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Simply heat the milk, add the powder and stir – enjoy.
The moon milk can be refined to taste. A little cane sugar, lavender or cardamom are popular extras.
