ORGANIC Shatavari - recipes and application

Turn your home into a magical power place – with Shatavari.

Shatavari is one of the best-known plants in Ayurvedic herbal medicine. Its Latin name is Asparagus racemosus. Whether you're trying to conceive, experiencing menstrual cramps, or going through menopause, this unique root is worth a try! But let's start at the beginning. Shatavari not only sounds beautiful (perhaps like a pretty woman's name), but also means "she who possesses over 100 men." This refers to its rejuvenating effect on the female reproductive organs.

In Ayurveda, the delicate roots and sometimes the leaves of this wild asparagus are used as medicinal and tonic substances. Shatavari is primarily used to enhance sexuality in both women and men. In women, it supports fertility (its positive effects on reproductive tissue are well-known), is used during pregnancy to increase libido, and alleviates menopausal symptoms or premenstrual syndrome (PMS). In men, Shatavari is used for conditions such as impotence, sexual weakness, or genital inflammation.

AYURVEDA: Shatavari for your bioenergy balance

Shatavari can have a positive effect on people with elevated Vata or Pitta. It strengthens the Kapha dosha and helps to reduce Vata and Pitta.

The unstable Vata dosha can benefit from its anxiety-relieving and nerve-calming effects. It can also be used to address sleep problems. Shatavari is good for both body and mind, bringing healing energy and balance.

Not only the mind, but also the intestines can be soothed, as Shatavari is used to protect the mucous membrane. Thus, correct intake of Shatavari promises relief from heartburn.

Recipes

Shatavari Moon Milk - the Ayurvedic goodnight milk

As the name suggests, Moon Milk is prepared with milk. Cow's milk (exclusively milk of the best, most natural quality) is said to have a strengthening and revitalizing effect in Ayurveda. It calms our body, stimulates our appetite, and balances the doshas Vata and Pitta. For the milk to be effective, it must be warm. Ideally, the milk should be boiled several times with spices.

In our Moon Milk recipe, we use warming spices as well as Shatavari, as we want to benefit from its balancing effect. Alternatively, we can also use Reishi or Tulsi.

Take:

  • 250ml of the best cow's or plant milk
  • 1 tsp Shatavari powder
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Simply heat the milk, add the powder and stir it in – enjoy.
Moon Milk can be refined to taste. A little raw cane sugar, lavender, or cardamom are popular extras.

Beauty Recipe: "Shatavari - smoothing and regenerating face mask"
