From an Ayurvedic perspective, the cause of the problem in terms of the doshas is essential.

There are Vata disorders that may occur more at the beginning of the period (feeling of fullness, pain in the lower abdomen or lower back, constipation, insomnia or cramps), Pitta disorders such as irritation, inflammation, hot flashes, increased breast sensitivity or Kapha disorders that are accompanied by retention of fluid in the breast, a feeling of heaviness, fullness or tiredness. Ayurveda has herbal recommendations for each disorder (e.g. Ashwagandha with warm water for Vata disorders, Shatavari with warm water for Pitta disorders, etc.). These should be coordinated with an Ayurvedic doctor. If you follow nutritional recommendations for your own constitutional type and practice some yoga exercises, menstrual problems and pain can often be effectively prevented.*
