Ayurveda has herbal recommendations for each disorder (e.g. Ashwagandha with warm water for Vata disorders, Shatavari with warm water for Pitta disorders, etc.). These should be coordinated with an Ayurvedic doctor. If you follow nutritional recommendations for your own constitution type and practice some yoga exercises, menstrual problems and pain can often be effectively prevented.*
