Ovoderm® - vegetarian collagen

Collagen comes i.d.R. from animal sources. Our Ovoderm® collagen has a purely vegetarian collagen profile from eggshell membranes from the quality manufacturer EGGNOVO from Spain. This membrane covers the eggshell from the inside and is particularly rich in structural proteins and other ingredients that give the membrane its characteristic strength and elasticity. The patented extraction process creates a exceptionally high content of over 90% total protein achieved.

The original branded raw material Ovoderm® provides a Collagen complex in a natural compound, consisting of 25% elastin, 22% collagen of types I, V and X, and 3% hyaluronic acid and 2% other glycosaminoglycans. This is a decisive advantage over many other (animal) collagen products on the market, as it significantly reduces the amount of collagen needed.

The only other ingredient we add is the pleasantly fragrant lemon peel essential oil powder, which was specially developed for internal use.

Collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid

Collagen It is the most abundant protein in the human body, accounting for over 30% of the total weight of all proteins, and is present in different types depending on the tissue type. As a structural protein in cartilage, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue, skeletal muscles, blood vessels, skin, bones, and teeth, it ensures elasticity and strength. During collagen synthesis, amino acids are linked together to form a polypeptide chain with the participation of several essential vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Thicker collagen fibers are formed through aggregation and cross-linking.

· Type I collagen: 90% of the collagen in the human body, especially in skin, bones, tendons and cartilage

· Collagen type V: in cell connections of the epidermis and dermis

· Collagen type X: in cartilage chondrocytes

Elastin Like collagen, it is a structural protein. Unlike collagen, which primarily provides strength, elastin is stretchable and elastic.

Hyaluronic acid is u.a. involved in wound healing and an important component of synovial fluid ("joint lubricant"), which forms a protective lubricating film on the cartilage in the joint. It is also responsible for supplying the cartilage with nutrients and acts as a kind of "shock absorber"; hyaluronic acid owes this property to its ability to bind large amounts of water. This ability is also the reason why hyaluronic acid enjoys great popularity in cosmetics.

Mechanisms of action

  1. Promotes collagen synthesis
In vitro and in animal models it has been shown that oral administration of eggshell membrane Expression of COL1A1 and COL3A1 in the skin and thus supports the formation of new collagen fibers.
  2. Inhibition of matrix-degrading enzymes
The activity of MMP-1 and MMP-2, which are responsible for the breakdown of collagen, is reduced after ESM administration – an effect that leads to less wrinkle formation.
  3. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects
In UVB-exposed models, ESM reduces the mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-α) and increases the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as SOD1
