Bio -availability in nutritional supplements - the Qidosha Bio+ procedure

For many dietary supplements, very promising results have been obtained in laboratory tests (in vitro), but these positive results are often not achieved to the same extent when used in humans (in vivo)..

The main reason for this is often poor bioavailability of the active ingredients. But:

What does bioavailability mean actually exactly?

Bioavailability describes the amount and speed of absorption of an active ingredient by the human body: It indicates the proportion of a substance that is delivered to the systemic circulation, as opposed to the amount that is metabolized and excreted unused. In short: Bioavailability indicates how quickly and over what period of time an active ingredient is absorbed by our body.

When we take dietary supplements or medication, we naturally want them to work. This is only possible with sufficiently high bioavailability. It's not enough to simply take a tablet, capsule, or powder and assume that the body is adequately supplied. The medication or dietary supplement must also be sufficiently bioavailable. Otherwise, the preparation will be ineffective – it cannot be sufficiently absorbed and absorbed by the body and develop its potential at the site of action, e.g., the heart or muscles. Simply taking more instead won't help either. High bioavailability is therefore more important and healthier than a high dose.

Can't poor bioavailability be compensated for simply by taking larger amounts?

The idea behind this frequently asked question is that if you take, for example, 15 times the amount of active ingredient from a preparation that is only 1/15 as bioavailable as a QIDOSHA Bio+ Product is, in the end approximately the same amount of active ingredient should reach the cells.

However, this is a misconception. Using vitamin C as an example, several studies have shown that a daily dose of >200 mg when administered orally (standard preparations) does not lead to a further increase in the amount of vitamin C in the blood, but the additional amount is simply excreted. 200 mg in standard preparations lead to about 70 µmol/L vitamin C in the blood. A further increase with increased vitamin C intake cannot be achieved with standard supplements.

Let us now look at the possibilities of how bioavailability can be significantly increased so that the active ingredients actually reach our cells.

There are three key thrusts:

  1. Small particle sizes of the active ingredient
  2. Embedding the active ingredient in a liposomal carrier system
  3. High stability of the combination of active ingredient and lipids

1. Why does bioavailability increase with decreasing particle size?

Particle size correlates negatively with bioavailability: The smaller the particle size, the higher the bioavailabilityThis effect is particularly noticeable below 100 nm. There are several reasons for this:

  1. The most significant is the increased water tolerance of the delivery system and the associated increase in the release rate of active ingredients: The smaller the carrier particles, the larger the surface area between them and the surrounding water. Smaller particles therefore increase the relative water solubility of ingredients because they can more easily transfer into the surrounding aqueous phase.
  2. In addition, small particles are more easily trapped by mucous membranes. Close, direct contact with a membrane increases the chance of substance transfer between the carrier and the respective cells.
  3. Furthermore, the sheer number of particles increases as their size decreases. A higher number increases the likelihood of contact between the particles and body membranes.

2. Embedding the active ingredient in a liposomal carrier system

The human body consists of 65–70% water. Therefore, fat-soluble substances (almost all plant extracts, fatty acids, vitamins A, D, E, and K, etc.) are difficult to absorb. Often only 5–10% of the orally administered active ingredients are actually absorbed by the body. Liposomal carrier system pack these fat-soluble substances are therefore encased in a water-soluble shell (“oil-in-water emulsion”). The Phospholipid membrane, in which the active ingredients (marked pink in the figure below) are enclosed, is very similar to the human cell structure and therefore optimizes the recording, because the body perceives phospholipids as a substance produced by the body.

3. High stability of the liposomal carrier system

While there are already some suppliers offering products with increased bioavailability by combining the active ingredient with lipids, the challenge is not to achieve a very high increase factor immediately after production. It's actually quite complicated to produce the resulting solution in such a way that the combination of active ingredient and lipids remains stable over time and doesn't break down again after a short period of time. Otherwise, expensive liposomal products would quickly become like "standard vitamin tablets from a discount store" in terms of bioavailability.

Now that we have explained the importance of bioavailability in dietary supplements so that what we consume actually reaches our cells, we would now like to introduce you to the patent-pending QIDOSHA Bio+ technology, a carrier system that enables the best bioavailability of all preparations available on the market.

what is QIDOSHA Bio+?

Many dietary supplements (v.aMany plant extracts (lipophilic) achieve good results in the laboratory, but the effect in the body is often minimal, as only a small portion of the active ingredient actually reaches where it is intended—namely, the cells. The majority is often excreted directly.

This is where liposomal dietary supplements come in, as these i.d.R. a significantly higher bioavailability, d.h. Absorption by the cells of our body, have: Through a Carrier system for the active ingredient (e.g. a plant extract such as astaxanthin) with a double membrane of phospholipids (in the case of lipophilic active ingredients there is also a fat-soluble core within the double membrane) the absorption of the active ingredient into our cells is significantly increased, since this membrane is very similar to the human cell structure.

Our patent-pending technology QIDOSHA Bio+ Products now go one step further: they succeed in combining the active ingredients with particularly small lipid spheres. The reduction of the droplets to less than 100 nm is achieved by so-called high-pressure homogenizationThe lipid used in this process is naturally used by the human body in a similar form in the outer shell of cells. Due to the very small size and similarity to the cell envelope, the absorption of the active ingredients is significantly increased, so that depending on the product, bioavailability is increased by up to 15 times.

QIDOSHA Bio+ - ALL FACTS AT A GLANCE:

High bioavailability thanks to minimal particle size

Our QIDOSHA Bio+ This product series has been specially formulated for the optimal absorption of water- and fat-soluble active ingredients. Many substances have achieved excellent results in scientific studies, but are often only inadequately absorbed by the body. Our QIDOSHA Bio+ Products: thanks to the small particle size of the carrier molecules, QIDOSHA Bio+ Depending on the item, products have up to 15x increased bioavailability compared to conventional dietary supplements.

Optimal absorption even of fat-soluble active ingredients

The human body is composed of 65–70% water. Therefore, fat-soluble substances are difficult to absorb. Often, only 5–10% of orally administered active ingredients are actually absorbed by the body. The patented technology behind the QIDOSHA Bio+ Products package fat-soluble substances in a water-soluble shell ("oil-in-water emulsion"). This unique process allows valuable active ingredients to develop their full potential.

In addition, the company behind the QIDOSHA Bio+ Unlike micellar formulations, this technology has a large oil phase of 8-15 wt%. This results in a high loading capacity for various fat-soluble ingredients.

Long-term stability

There are already some suppliers offering products with increased bioavailability by combining the active ingredient with lipids. The challenge, however, is not to achieve a very high increase factor immediately after production. In fact, it is complicated to produce the resulting solution in such a way that the combination of active ingredient and lipids remains stable over the long term and does not break down again after a short period of time. Otherwise, the expensive liposomal products would quickly become like the "standard vitamin tablet from the discount store" in terms of bioavailability.

Faster effectiveness

Due to the small particle size of the active ingredients, sublingual absorption begins immediately after ingestion in the mouth. This leads to an immediate onset of action of the QIDOSHA Bio+ Products so that the active ingredients can be detected in the blood plasma after just 5 minutes. This is particularly important for active ingredients like melatonin, where a rapid effect is desired.

Longer duration of action

Our active ingredients have a longer effect due to reduced metabolism, as the active ingredients are metabolized as needed through encapsulation. This creates a natural depot effect.

Lower risk of side effects

Due to the much higher bioavailability, a high dosage of the active ingredient is not necessary, as the absorption by the cells is significantly greater overall. This significantly reduces the likelihood of side effects while simultaneously increasing efficacy.

Natural taste

Unfortunately, many liposomal products are difficult or impossible to consume. This is the case with QIDOSHA Bio+ Articles are different: Even without artificial additives, we achieve a very pleasant and natural taste. This is due to v.a. because the taste of the active ingredients is only slightly noticeable due to the special encapsulation technology.
