Bioavailability of dietary supplements - the QIDOSHA Bio+ process

Many dietary supplements show very promising results in laboratory tests (in vitro), but these positive results are often not achieved to the same extent when used in humans (in vivo)..

The main reason for this is often poor bioavailability of the active ingredients. But:

What does bioavailability mean? Exactly what exactly?

Bioavailability describes the amount and rate at which an active ingredient is absorbed by the human body: It indicates the proportion of a substance that enters the systemic circulation, as opposed to the amount that is metabolized and excreted unused. In short: Bioavailability indicates how quickly and over what period of time an active ingredient is absorbed by our body.

When we take dietary supplements or medications, we naturally want them to be effective. This is only possible with sufficiently high bioavailability. It's not enough to simply take a tablet, capsule, or powder and assume that the body is adequately supplied. The medication or supplement must also have a high bioavailability. Otherwise, the product remains ineffective – it cannot be sufficiently absorbed and utilized by the body to exert its potential at the site of action, such as the heart or muscles. Simply taking more won't help either. High bioavailability is therefore more important and healthier than a high dose.

Can poor bioavailability simply be compensated for by taking an ever-increasing amount?

Behind this frequently asked question lies the idea that if, for example, one ingests 15 times the amount of the active ingredient of a preparation that is only 1/15 as bioavailable as a QIDOSHA Bio+ Product The goal is that, in the end, roughly the same amount of active ingredient should reach the cells.

However, this is a misconception. Several studies have demonstrated, using vitamin C as an example, that a daily dose of &<200 mg when administered orally (standard preparations) does not lead to any further increase in the amount of vitamin C in the blood, but the additional amount is simply excreted. 200 mg of standard preparations leads to approximately 70 µmol/L of vitamin C in the blood. Further increases with increased vitamin C intake cannot be achieved with standard supplements.

Let's now look at the possibilities for significantly increasing bioavailability so that the active ingredients actually reach our cells.

There are three key thrusts:

  1. Small particle sizes of the active ingredient
  2. Embedding the active ingredient in a liposomal carrier system
  3. High stability of the compound between active ingredient and lipids

1. Why does bioavailability increase with decreasing particle size?

Particle size correlates negatively with bioavailability: The smaller the particle size, the higher the bioavailability. This effect is particularly pronounced below 100 nm. This has several causes:

  1. The most significant advantage is the increased water compatibility of the transport system and the associated increase in the release rate of active ingredients: the smaller the carrier particles, the larger the surface area between them and the surrounding water. Smaller particles thus increase the relative water solubility of ingredients because they can more easily migrate into the surrounding aqueous phase.
  2. Furthermore, small particles are more easily trapped by the mucous membranes. Close, direct contact with a membrane increases the likelihood of substance transfer between the carrier and the respective cells.
  3. Furthermore, the sheer number of particles increases when their size is reduced. A higher number increases the likelihood of contact between the particles and body membranes.

2. Embedding the active ingredient in a liposomal carrier system

The human body consists of 65–70% water. Therefore, fat-soluble substances (almost all plant extracts, fatty acids, vitamins A, D, E and K, etc.) difficult to absorb. Often Only 5–10% of orally ingested active ingredients are actually absorbed by the body.. Liposomal carrier system pack These fat-soluble substances are therefore encased in a water-soluble shell (“oil-in-water emulsion”). The Phospholipid membrane, in which the active ingredients (marked in pink in the figure below) are enclosed, is very similar to the human cell structure and therefore optimizes the recording, because the body perceives phospholipids as a substance produced by the body itself.

3. High stability of the liposomal carrier system

While some manufacturers already offer products with increased bioavailability by combining the active ingredient with lipids, the challenge lies not in achieving a very high increase in bioavailability immediately after manufacturing. The real challenge lies in producing the solution in such a way that the bond between the active ingredient and the lipids remains stable over the long term and doesn't dissolve again after a short time. Otherwise, the expensive liposomal products quickly revert to the bioavailability of a "standard vitamin tablet from the discount store."

Now that we have explained the importance of bioavailability in dietary supplements, so that what we ingest actually reaches our cells, we would like to introduce you to the patent-pending QIDOSHA Bio+ technology, a carrier system that enables the best bioavailability of all preparations available on the market.

what is QIDOSHA Bio+?

Many dietary supplements (v.aMany plant extracts (lipophilic) achieve good results in the laboratory, but their effect in the body is often minimal, as frequently only a small portion of the active ingredient actually reaches its intended destination – the cells. The majority is often excreted directly.

This is where liposomal dietary supplements come in, as these i.d.R. significantly higher bioavailability, d.h. Absorption by the cells of our body, exhibit: Through a Carrier system for the active ingredient (e.g., a plant extract such as astaxanthin) with a double membrane made of phospholipids (In the case of lipophilic active ingredients, there is also a fat-soluble core within the double membrane) the absorption of the active ingredient into our cells is significantly increased, since this membrane is very similar to the human cell structure.

Our products are manufactured using patent-pending technology QIDOSHA Bio+ Products now go one step further: This makes it possible to combine the active ingredients with particularly small lipid spheres. The reduction in size of the droplets to below 100 nm is achieved through so-called high-pressure homogenization. The lipid used in this process is naturally used in a similar form by the human body in the outer membrane of cells. Due to their very small size and similarity to the cell membrane, the absorption of the active ingredients is significantly increased., so that, depending on the product, bioavailability is increased by up to 15 times.

QIDOSHA Bio+ - ALL THE FACTS AT A GLANCE:

High bioavailability thanks to minimal particle size

Our QIDOSHA Bio+ This product line is specifically designed for the optimal absorption of water- and fat-soluble active ingredients. Many substances have achieved excellent results in scientific studies, but are often insufficiently absorbed by the body. Our products address this issue. QIDOSHA Bio+ Products in contrast: thanks to the small particle size of the carrier molecules, they enable QIDOSHA Bio+ Depending on the product, it offers up to 15x increased bioavailability compared to ordinary dietary supplements.

Optimal absorption even of fat-soluble active ingredients

The human body consists of 65–70% water. Therefore, fat-soluble substances are difficult to absorb. Often, only 5–10% of orally ingested active ingredients are actually absorbed by the body. The patented technology behind the QIDOSHA Bio+ The products encapsulate fat-soluble substances in a water-soluble shell (an "oil-in-water emulsion"). Valuable active ingredients can unleash their full potential through this unique process.

In addition, the one behind the QIDOSHA Bio+ The technology used in these products – unlike micellar formulations – features a large oil phase of 8-15%. This results in a high loading capacity for various fat-soluble ingredients.

Long-term stability

While some manufacturers already offer products with increased bioavailability by binding the active ingredient to lipids, the challenge isn't achieving a significant increase immediately after production. The real difficulty lies in producing the solution in such a way that the bond between the active ingredient and lipids remains stable over the long term and doesn't break down again after a short time. Otherwise, these expensive liposomal products will quickly revert to the bioavailability of a standard supermarket vitamin tablet.

Faster effectiveness

Due to the small particle size of the active ingredients, sublingual absorption begins immediately after ingestion in the mouth. This leads to an immediate onset of action. QIDOSHA Bio+ Products so that the active ingredients are detectable in the blood plasma after just 5 minutes. This is particularly important for active ingredients like melatonin, where a rapid effect is desired.

Longer duration of effect

Our active ingredients have a longer duration of action due to reduced metabolism, as the active substances are metabolized as needed through encapsulation of the ingredients. This results in a natural depot effect.

Lower risk of side effects

Due to its much higher bioavailability, a high dosage of the active ingredient is not necessary, as the net uptake by the cells is significantly greater. This considerably reduces the likelihood of side effects while simultaneously increasing efficacy.

Natural flavor

Many liposomal products are unfortunately not palatable or only palatable with difficulty. This is the case with the following: QIDOSHA Bio+ Our products differ from ours: Even without artificial additives, we achieve a very pleasant and natural taste. This is because v.aThis is due to the fact that the inherent taste of the active ingredients is only perceptible to a very small extent thanks to the special encapsulation technique.
