Bioavailability of dietary supplements - the QIDOSHA Bio+ process

For many dietary supplements there are very promising results in laboratory tests (in vitro), but when used on humans (in vivo) these positive results are often not achieved to the same extent.

The central reason for this is often inadequate bioavailability of the active ingredients. But:

What does bioavailability actually mean?

Bioavailability describes the amount and speed at which an active substance is absorbed by the human body: it indicates the proportion of a substance that is supplied to the systemic circulation. As opposed to the amount that is metabolized and excreted unused. In short: Bioavailability indicates how quickly and over what period of time an active ingredient is absorbed by our body.

When we take nutritional supplements or medications, we obviously want them to work. This is only possible with sufficiently high bioavailability. It is not enough to take a tablet, capsule or powder and assume that the body is adequately supplied with it. The medication or the dietary supplement must also be correspondingly bioavailable. Otherwise the preparation remains ineffective - it cannot be sufficiently absorbed and absorbed by the body and develop its potential at the site of action, e.g. b heart or muscles. Simply taking more instead doesn't help either. High bioavailability is therefore more important and healthier than a high dose.

Can't you simply compensate for poor bioavailability by taking ever larger quantities?

The idea behind this often asked question is that if you, for example, If you consume 15 times the amount of active ingredient from a preparation that is only 1/15 as bioavailable as a QIDOSHA Bio+ product, in the end the roughly the same amount of active ingredient should reach the cells.

However, this is a misconception. Using vitamin C as an example, several studies have shown that a daily dose of >200 mg when administered orally (standard preparations) does not lead to a further increase in the amount of vitamin C in the blood, but the additional amount is simply excreted. 200 mg of standard preparations leads to around 70 µmol/L vitamin C in the blood. A further increase in vitamin C intake cannot be achieved with standard preparations.

Let's now look at the ways in which bioavailability can be significantly increased so that the active ingredients actually reach our cells.

There are three central thrusts:

  1. Small particle sizes of the active ingredient
  2. Embedding the active ingredient in a liposomal carrier system
  3. High stability of the connection between active ingredient and lipids

1. Why does bioavailability increase as particle size decreases?

The particle size correlates negatively with bioavailability: The smaller the particle size, the higher the bioavailability. This effect is particularly clear below 100 nm. There are several reasons for this:

  1. The most important is the increased water compatibility of the transport system and the associated increase in the release rate of active ingredients: the smaller the carrier particles are, the larger the surface area between them and the surrounding water. With smaller particles, the relative water solubility of ingredients is increased because they can more easily pass into the surrounding aqueous phase.
  2. In addition, small particles are more easily trapped by the mucous membranes. The close, direct contact with a membrane increases the chance of material transfer between the carrier and the respective cells.
  3. Furthermore, the sheer number of particles increases as their size is reduced. A higher number increases the likelihood of contact between the particles and body membranes.

2. Embedding the active ingredient in a liposomal carrier system

The human body consists of 65-70% water. Therefore, fat-soluble substances (almost all plant extracts, fatty acids, vitamins A, D, E and K etc) are absorbed only with difficulty. Often only 5-10% of the active ingredients taken orally are actually absorbed by the body. Liposomal carrier systems therefore package these fat-soluble substances in a water-soluble shell (“oil-in-water emulsion”). The phospholipid membrane, into which the active ingredients (in the figure. marked pink below) are included, is very similar to the human cell structure and therefore optimizes absorption, since the body perceives the phospholipids as the body's own substance.

3. High stability of the liposomal carrier system

There are already some suppliers who offer products with increased bioavailability by combining the active ingredient with lipids. However, the challenge is not to achieve a very high increase factor immediately after production. It is actually complicated to produce the solution in such a way that the combination of active ingredient and lipids remains stable in the long term and does not dissolve again after a short time. Otherwise, the expensive liposomal products will quickly become the “standard vitamin tablets from the discount store” in terms of bioavailability.

Now that we have explained the importance of bioavailability in dietary supplements so that what we consume actually reaches our cells, we would now like to introduce you to a carrier system with the patent-pending QIDOSHA Bio+ technology that is the best Bioavailability of all preparations available on the market.

What is QIDOSHA Bio+?

Many dietary supplements (v.a Many plant extracts (lipohil) achieve good results in the laboratory, but in the end the effect in the body is often low, as often only a small part of the active ingredient actually reaches where it is supposed to arrive - namely in the cells. The majority is often excreted straight away.

This is where the liposomal nutritional supplements come into play, as these i.e.dR a significantly higher bioavailability, i.e.H Absorption by the cells of our body: Through a carrier system for the active ingredient (e.g. a plant extract such as astaxanthin) with a double membrane made of phospholipids (with lipophilic active ingredients there is also a fat-soluble core within the double membrane). The absorption of the active ingredient into our cells is significantly increased, as this membrane is very similar to the human cell structure.

Our products, which are manufactured using patent-pending technology QIDOSHA Bio+ , now go one step further: This allows us to deliver the active ingredients with particularly small lipid balls connect. The droplets are reduced in size to below 100 nm using so-called high-pressure homogenization. The lipid used is naturally used by the human body in a similar form in the outer shell of the cells. Due to the very small size and similarity to the cell shell, the absorption of the active ingredients is significantly increased, so that, depending on the product, the bioavailability is increased by up to 15 times is increased.

QIDOSHA Bio+ - ALL FACTS AT A GLANCE:

High bioavailability thanks to minimal particle size

Our QIDOSHA Bio+ product series has been specially designed for the optimal absorption of water- and fat-soluble active ingredients. Many substances have achieved very good results in scientific studies, but are often only inadequately absorbed by the body. Our QIDOSHA Bio+  products counteract this: thanks to the small particle size of the carrier molecules,  QIDOSHA Bio+ enables Depending on the item, products have up to 15x increased bioavailability compared to normal dietary supplements.

Optimal absorption of fat-soluble active ingredients

The human body consists of 65-70% water. Therefore, fat-soluble substances are difficult to absorb. Often only 5-10% of the active ingredients taken orally are actually absorbed by the body. The patented technology behind the QIDOSHA Bio+ products packages fat-soluble substances in a water-soluble shell (“oil-in-water emulsion”). Valuable active ingredients can develop their full potential through this unique process.

In addition, the technology behind the QIDOSHA Bio+ products - and unlike micellar formulations - has a large oil phase of 8-15 m%. This results in a high loading capacity for various fat-soluble ingredients.

Long-term stability

There are already some suppliers who offer products with increased bioavailability by combining the active ingredient with lipids. However, the challenge is not to achieve a very high increase factor immediately after production. It is actually complicated to produce the solution in such a way that the combination of active ingredient and lipids remains stable in the long term and does not dissolve again after a short time. Otherwise, the expensive liposomal products will quickly become the “standard vitamin tablets from the discount store” in terms of bioavailability.

Faster effectiveness

Due to the small particle size of the active ingredients, sublingual absorption begins immediately after ingestion in the mouth. This leads to the QIDOSHA Bio+ products taking effect immediately, so that the active ingredients can be detected in the blood plasma after just 5 minutes. This is particularly important for active ingredients such as melatonin, where a quick effect is desired.

Longer duration

Our active ingredients last longer due to reduced metabolism, as the active ingredients are metabolized as needed by encapsulating the ingredients. This creates a natural depot effect.

Lower risk of side effects

Due to the much higher bioavailability, a high dosage of the active ingredient is not necessary, as the overall uptake by the cells is significantly greater. This significantly reduces the likelihood of side effects, while at the same time increasing effectiveness.

Natural taste

Many liposomal products are unfortunately not edible or are difficult to eat. This is different with the QIDOSHA Bio+ articles: even without artificial additives we achieve a very pleasant and natural taste. This is v.a This is due to the fact that only a very small proportion of the active ingredients' own taste is perceptible due to the special encapsulation technology.
