Why You Should Eat More Pineapple
The pineapple is a herbaceous fruit plant from the Bromeliad family.
With 20 milligrams per 100 grams, it provides a lot of vitamin C. The positive effect on the immune system and the iron absorption from food will only be mentioned briefly here. Pineapple also contains a lot of manganese, which together with vitamin C is responsible for collagen formation in the skin. Manganese is a trace element.
Pineapple contains plenty Bromelain, an enzyme with some very good properties, for which there are tons of health claims related to the immune system, good blood circulation, digestive support and even the fight against edema.
The pineapple provides valuable beta-carotene, which is processed by the body into vitamin A.
Pineapple in Ayurveda
Sour fruits such as berries, pineapple or citrus fruits are refreshing but also acidic. They strengthen Agni, increase Pitta and regulate Vata dosha. Are you prone to Pitta disorders? Then you better stay away from sour fruits.
Ayurvedic no-go: Eating sour fruit with fermented milk products (yoghurt, curd or cheese). This would clog the srotas and put a strain on the skin's metabolism.
